Day one at Melbourne’s Event Showcase saw event planners from around the state come together for a unique sensory experience at the Royal Exhibition Building yesterday. A wide variety of colourful exhibits invited visitors to the show to get their hands on the products on offer and try them first-hand; moulding wax hands, balloon flowers, fun photo booths, cocktail tasting and live cooking of local produce were some of the highlights.
Entertainment on display
Following a busy morning on the show floor and at the Event Master Class Sessions, MTA Entertainment and Events took over the Entertainment
Showcase stage with Tim Campbell emceeing and introducing a range of unusual performances, such as trampoline artist Matt Hughes, string trio Maske and comedy duo Rusty and The Other Guy.
Meanwhile, at the Team Building Lounge Melbourne’s team building experts gave drumming lessons and the “Marshmallow Challenge” – where people are given a marshmallow and a range of other edibles to connect all the pieces with the challenge of building a structure that lifts the marshmallow to the highest level.
The Masterclass sessions
In the afternoon, lots of networking was on the cards with visitors shopping for their upcoming events and exhibitors meeting familliar faces and collecting new leads. Five o’clock came around quickly, and the crowds moved upstairs for the infamous and well-deserved Party After Dark. In addition to a stunning setup and plenty of food and drink, people were invited to ride the bull, get their group photo taken and populate the dancefloor.
The SPICE Award winners were also announced yesterday:
Harry the Hirer – Best large stand
Amos & Smith Stylists – Best small stand
Rockstar for a Day – Best new product at the show
The show is still open today. Anyone involved in organising meetings, special events, team building and office or Christmas parties should come to Melbourne’s Event Showcase at the REB in Carlton Gardens today to see some of Melbourne’s most exciting event products, entertainment and services.
