Australia Africa Business Summit dates announced

The Summit will go ahead this year after being postponed from October 2023.

It has now been confirmed the inaugural Australia Africa Business Summit will take place at the Melbourne Sofitel from May 12-14, 2024.

The Australia Africa Chamber of Commerce (AACC) has greenlit the Summit after a number of high-profile delegates confirmed their attendance.

AACC President, Duncan Harris, said following feedback from the group’s African partners, the Summit had to be postponed from its original date in October last year.

“The recent announcement of the African Union being permanently admitted as members of the G20 had proven to be a major distraction to geopolitical discourse but with time there is now clarity emerging,” he said.

“I am pleased to advise that our key presenters, namely Senator the Hon Don Farrell, Minister for Trade & Tourism, Commonwealth of Australia and Wamkele Keabetswe Mene, Secretary General, Africa Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat have reconfirmed their attendance.

“We have been incredibly pleased with the interest from delegates, sponsors and presenters.”

The theme of the Summit is “New Bridges. New Connections” which aims to focus delegates on opportunities for two-way trade and commerce particularly in mining, education, agriculture and professional services.
