The highly anticipated AIME 2023 Gala Opening Event was a spectacular celebration of AIME’s 30th anniversary.
Held on the plush green oval of Marvel Stadium on Monday 13 February, the welcome ceremony was attended by 1,300 guests and included everything from a pearl-themed catering menu by Victorian producers Delaware North to a dance party led by DJ Hot Dub Time Machine who paid homage to AIME’s 30-year legacy.

What was the planning process?
Working in conjunction with Talk2Media (which runs AIME), Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) and Peter Jones Special Events we worked through concept that would surprise, entertain and delight the attendees.
As the venue, we worked mainly with Peter Jones to refine the plan for the night and ensure it was a once in a lifetime experience for attendees.
We don’t often have the opportunity to have events take place like this on the field of play, so this was particularly special.
We also coordinated and worked with our AV Partner (AVD) and Catering Partner (Delaware North) to ensure that we delivered to the highest possible standing, creating a menu and visual experience that blew away the crowd.
What were the highlights of the event?
The actual location and being down on the field. This was a very unique experience and you could tell people were delighted from the moment they stepped inside the venue.
Food and Beverage. Our head chef Dushy designed a menu that was easy for people to eat on the floor, but would also leave a memorable imprint. He most definitely succeeded with the offering being plentiful and absolutely delicious.
The entertainment was amazing with Hot Dub Time Machine putting on an absolute banger of a set. You’d have to go a long way to see a venue rocking like that on a Monday night!
The theming was amazing, with Dann Event Hire providing us with some great furniture to give people somewhere for respite and to be able to sit and experience the event.
What was the feedback like from guests and clients?
We were blown away by the feedback we have received around the event and jut how much people enjoyed the event and experience.
Probably the best compliment has been from one attendee who said they had been going to AIME for 30 years and this was hands down the best welcome party they have attended!
We’ve definitely set the bar high for AIME 2024!
