Australia’s best events were celebrated at the Australian Event Awards last night (21 November, 2018) on the Sunshine Coast.
Event professionals gathered at Novotel Twin Waters for the annual black-tie awards ceremony.
Among the winners were the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, which was awarded Best Sporting Event, and Vivid Sydney taking home the Best Tourism Event.
The Trade and Investment Program took out Best Exhibition, Trade or Consumer Show; the International Conference of Robotics and Automation won Best Congress or Conference, and the Pop-Up Globe was awarded Best Achievement in Design, Look or Theming.
In the headline categories, David Atkins, Lifetime Achievement Winner 2010, took out Event Producer of the Year for the second year in a row, while Event Management Company of the Year was awarded to Belle Laide Events.
Australian Event Awards and Symposium managing director Ian Steigrad congratulated the winners on their achievements.
“Tonight we saw a stream of remarkable finalists and winners highlighting just how strong our country’s events and event achievements are,” he said.
“The calibre of their work is quite incredible. A special congratulations to all those who took home a coveted trophy tonight.”
