Want to visit the distillery that is making ICC Sydney’s tailored gin and vodka?
Tucked away in an industrial corner of Rosebery in Sydney’s inner west is arguably one of the coolest venues that has sprung up in recent years.
A working distillery with a bar area and simple but high quality menu of share plates, Archie Rose Distilling Co. is quite unlike anything else.
Nigel Weisbaum, sales and marketing manager, Archie Rose Distilling Co. said, “Tours and tastings are our specialty. We run tours every day, with three tours a day during the weekends. They last roughly an hour including a ‘tasting flight’ of our spirits. The tours explain the entire whisky making process all the way from grains to the glass bottle. We also walk through how we make our gin and vodka.
“As our facility is fairly small we usually restrict tour numbers. However we can either run with a slightly larger group and have a less detailed tour, or we can easily split the tour into two, and the second group can have some drinks in the bar while the first tour the distillery.
“We can also run an in-depth gin or whisky blending class or gin or whisky appreciation sessions.
“Our blending sessions are a unique and hands-on experience, you will have the opportunity to blend two of your own gins or whiskies which are yours to take away in 200ml flasks. A gin and tonic on arrival will start the tour before our production manager Dave guides you through our distillery and the spirit making process. Instruction will be provided on how to construct a high quality spirit as well as a little history. It is a fantastic and interactive evening which we are very proud of.
“Our whisky or gin appreciation evening is a fun but detailed session where you will have the unique opportunity to tour our distillery, taste some of the raw ingredients and mid-production components of the spirit making process and learn about the equipment, stages and skill involved in crafting the perfect spirit.
Moving into the bar, you will then be guided through six expressions of whisky or gin from around the world, by our production manager and whisky expert, Dave Withers. Touching on the history, production methods and tasting notes of the key styles and regions, you will have the opportunity to learn how to appreciate and differentiate some of the world’s finest drams,” said Weisbaum.
Archie Rose Distilling Co. is located at 85 Dunning Ave, Rosebery NSW.
