Entries open for 2013 Australian Event Awards

Event organisers are now invited to begin their award submission for the 2013 Australian Event Awards.

Event organisers are now invited to begin their award submission for the 2013 Australian Event Awards.

The Industry Night of Nights is Australia’s largest celebration of the events industry, with twenty-four categories representing the absolute best of the best. Over the next two months, hundreds of entries will be prepared and submitted by event organisers, industry suppliers and organisations from around the country.

Entries are assessed by an expert panel of judges, consisting of some of the industry’s most influential and experienced figures.

Co-chaired by John Allen AM, who is the foundation director of the Australian Centre for Event Management (ACEM), and Sandy Hollway AO, who was the CEO of the Sydney Organising Committee for the 2000 Olympic Games, the expert panel will be looking at highly competitive entries from around the nation.

Previous winners ‘Hawaiian Ride for Youth 2012’ won for Australia’s Best Charity or Cause-Related Event.

Previous winners ‘Hawaiian Ride for Youth 2012’ have already seen the value of winning Australia’s Best Charity or Cause-Related Event last year. “The application process was relatively simple and the benefits gained not just from winning but even being recognised as a National finalist have been tremendous. We would encourage any organisation to take part.” said Rachel Lieberfreund, event co-ordinator at Youth Focus.

Organisers are anticipating yet another fantastic abundance of entries, upholding the high standard set by previous years. “In the past I have been blown away by the entries. In my opinion the Awards really do reflect the incredible calibre of the National industry at the moment” said Ian Steigrad, director of the Event Awards.

Individuals and organisations can now enter online for a variety of awards, and can edit their entry right up until the closing deadline.

Categories include ‘Best Tourism Event’, ‘Best Venue’ and ‘Entertainer of the Year’, with the highly-prized golden trophy going to the ‘Australian Event of the Year’.

2012 winners Opera Australia were thrilled to receive the golden trophy for Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour ‘La Traviata. Associate producer Kylie McOmish stated, “It was a great buzz and it has been a huge compliment to so much hard work. We are looking forward to entering the event again.”

Organisers are urging those considering entering the Awards to start the process now to receive the early bird rate. You can enter online by clicking here.
