It was clear this was going to be a well organised famil when we were asked by Business Events Tasmania what our favourite warm drink is to start the day even before we had arrived.

Arriving into Hobart, we were straight into the first culinary delight of the day – Barilla Bay Oysters. Offering farm tours, function space and with a new aquarium to come, you cannot leave without tasting one of the thousands of oysters they distribute each week. After a short ten minute drive, we arrive at the beautiful Frogmore Creek Winery.

The group at historic and World Heritage Listed Port Arthur.

This venue is stunning for cocktail parties, dinners and of course wine tastings. We are joined for lunch by representatives from Top Gun Australia, Boutique WineTours and LarkDistillery to hear about the variety of activities they can offer the events industry.

A short drive through the beautiful countryside brought us to Redbank’s Fish and Field, a 400 acre adventure playground for groups. After showcasing our clay target shooting skills, we then headed to the World Heritage listed Port Arthur historic site for a twilight champagne cruise, dinner and ghost tour (not for the faint hearted.)

Accommodations for the night were the luxury cabins at Stewarts Bay Lodge, which also has meeting facilities with beautiful views of Mother Nature.

The group departed port Arthur via seaplane courtesy of Tasmanian Air Adventures.

The morning saw us depart Port Arthur by seaplane with Tasmanian Air Adventures and take a short scenic flight into Hobart where we landed at the Wrest Point Hotel and Convention Centre to cook flambé crepes alfresco style for breakfast. The culinary delights continued as we took a leisurely cruise to the spectacular Peppermint Bay for lunch, a fabulous venue for offsite events.

The explorations of unique venues continued as we toured the award winning Museum of Old and New Art (MONA), a fabulous addition to Hobart.

The afternoon incorporated site inspections of the historic Henry Jones Art Hotel and the new Grand Mercure Central Apartments, ending with a tour of the wonderfully refurbished Hotel Grand Chancellor which hosted the group with a seemingly endless tasting of local produce and wines.

The following morning we became one of the locals enjoying a great breakfast at Salamanca Markets before it was time to say goodbye to our fabulous hosts.
