Geelong’s grand welcome to Australian Convention Bureaux

CEOs and their staff from Australia's 16 leading city and regional convention bureaux will converge on Geelong from today for the 21st Association of Australian Convention Bureaux annual staff conference.


CEOs and their staff from Australia’s 16 leading city and regional convention bureaux will converge on Geelong from this Thursday, 9 September for 3-4 days for the 21st Association of Australian Convention Bureaux annual staff conference.

Convention Bureaux of Australia are responsible for attracting high yielding visitors from conferences and business events to their respective destinations.


Business Events Geelong’s convention bureau manager Andrew Hiebl grandly welcoming delegates to Geelong.

Local bureau, Business Events Geelong (a division of Geelong Otway Tourism) will play proud local host to the Association and its delegates.
Andrew Hiebl, Convention Bureau Manager of Business Events Geelong expressed, “This is a coup not only for Geelong, but for Regional Victoria.”

“Hosting the leaders of Australian Bureaux will provide an unprecedented business events focus on Geelong & the Great Ocean Road which will further provide regional development opportunities for our local industry.”

International VIP speakers flying in for the conference include: Doug Price, senior vice president (Professional Development), Destination Marketing Association International – USA, Miranda Loannou, managing director, SCS Limited  among others.

The conference will be held at Four Points by Sheraton Geelong on the city’s waterfront. 80 delegates are registered to attend and will get a taste of Geelong’s unique venues in Pettavel Winery & Restaurant, Sailors Rest, The Carousel and Ford Discovery Centre, exceptional catering by Truffleduck, entertainment organised by The Blues Train and team building activities coordinated by Big Stick Adventures.
