Sofitel is helping the less fortunate in Queenstown

A local initiative which started in 2006, Sofitel’s Tree of Hope is a yearly activity which supports the local church and has the support of the wider community with more than 150 associations benefiting from the venture.

Sofitel Queenstown Hotel and Spa director of sales and marketing, Tanya Dennis, said: “We’re really proud to be part of this initiative… Christmas is a time for giving, and this is the ideal way for our hotel to demonstrate our commitment to the community.

“It’s certainly will be a wonderful venture to be part of, and given that in the past Sofitel has managed to reach some 130 people with gifts our aim this year is to deliver to more than 200 deserving people who live around Queenstown.

“Each year the Sofitel Queenstown Hotel and Spa is provided with the age and gender of children and others in need in our community, with details displayed on cards and hung on its Tree of Hope.

“Local businesses, supporters and even hotel guests are then invited to select a card and purchase an age/gender appropriate gift to donate.

“It’s a simple yet lovely way to bring a smile to the faces of those celebrating Christmas in more challenging circumstances than our own,” said Dennis

She said Sofitel Queenstown Hotel and Spa and the community would arrange for gifts to be available and delivered by 23rd December to spread festive cheer before the man in red officially arrives.
